Opening Conference in Čakovec

To mark the start of the implementation phase of the Programme and to celebrate this year’s European Co-operation Day, an Opening Conference was held in Čakovec, Croatia on 10 September 2015 with more than 300 participants and a long list of distinguished guests.

The first big public event of Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia Co-operation Programme 2014-2020 was held in Čakovec on 10 September 2015, announcing the beginning of implementation of the recently adopted Programme and presenting the new possibilities for joint projects open within its frame. 
 
The conference began by the welcome speeches of Ms Helga Bubanović Devčić, Assistant Minister for Regional Development and EU Funds in Croatia, Mr Zsigmond Perényi, Deputy State Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office in Hungary, His Excellency Mr József Zoltán Magyar, Ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Croatia and His Excellency Mr Gordan Galić Radman, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Hungary and Ms Lena Andersson Pench, Director in the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy of the European Commission, followed by Mr Matija Posavec, County Prefect of hosting Međimurska County and Mr Stjepan Kovač, Mayor of City of Čakovec. All the speakers emphasised the positive experiences with the implementation in the previous period and successful Hungarian-Croatian cross-border co-operation.
 
The programme that followed included many interesting presentations focusing on the different aspects of European co-operation in general and the co-operation of Hungary and Croatia in particular, emphasising its successful history and exploring the perspectives for the future joint efforts in this field.
 
The conference was also an opportunity to present all the different projects realised within the last programming period, hoping to inspire the potential beneficiaries of the new Programme to build further on this strong foundations. The project results were exhibited at the venue and presentations of best practice projects were featured in the programme of the Conference.
