More than 26.5 M EUR Available!

The long-awaited moment has finally arrived and the Managing Authority of the Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia Cooperation Programme 2014-2020 has launched the First Call for Proposals with more than 26.5 M EUR allocated to joint Hungarian-Croatian projects, within three Priority Axes: Sustainable Use of Natural and Cultural Assets; Co-operation and Education.

Being the first chance for applying joint Hungarian-Croatian within a CBC programme since 2011, it is no wonder that many beneficiaries were eagerly awaiting this moment.

We are therefore happy to announce that, in line with the Programme’s strategy, the First Call for Proposals will provide funding to partnerships of non-profit organisations for joint projects within three of the Programme’s Priority Axes, aiming at achieving the following four specific objectives:
  • 2.1 Convert the region’s natural and cultural heritage assets to tourism attractions with income generating capabilities
  • 2.2  Restoring the ecological diversity in the border area
  • 3.1 Involvement of more social and institutional actors in cross-border co-operation
  • 4.1 Improve the role of educational institutions as intellectual centres for increasing the specific local knowledge-base in the region.
Although, compared to the 2007-2013 programme, the Programme area has remained unchanged, there has been a change in the classification of the NUTS3 regions on the Croatian side, with now both the four border counties and the four neighbouring counties - previously called ‘adjacent counties’ - being equally eligible for support from the Programme, bringing the final list of eligible regions to three Hungarian and eight Croatian counties:

Based on the experiences of the previous programming period, the envisaged content of the projects is looking to capitalise on its achieved results. Again, a strong focus is put on tourism development in the area, which has to be in line with the Regional Tourism Product Plan (RTPP) and its compendium ‘Handbook to Tourism Projects’;  as well as the continuation of encouragement of better cooperation on institutional and community level.

The supported activities are varied both in content and in size and range from smaller people-to-people co-operations within Priority Axis 3 to bigger investments with potential works component within Priority Axis 2.

The long, but not exhaustive list of the suggested activities for each Priority Axis, as well as potential applicants and all the details on the requirements for the partnerships can be found in the Guidelines for Applicants, which is part of the Application Package, also containing all the supporting documents needed for the elaboration of a successful application.

Following the best practice of the previous period, the Programme is allowing for a generously long submission period, with the deadline set for 31 May 2016 at 5 p.m. CET, leaving the applicants as many as ninety days to develop their project ideas into coherent, innovative and creative project proposals.

It is important to note that the Priority Axis 1, aimed at supporting Small- and medium size enterprises (SMEs), is not a subject of the First Call for Proposals. It will be implemented under special rules and in the framework of the so-called PP Light Scheme, which will be announced on a later date and further elaborated via the Programme website.
