Happy Europe Day!

This year marks the 67th anniversary of Schuman’s Declaration, a speech given in Paris in 1950, Robert Schuman, the then French foreign minister, setting out his idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe and laying down the foundation for the creation of the European Union. Every year this day is commemorated across the European Union by celebrating the achievements of European nations and their cooperation and unity.

To mark the occasion, the local offices of the European Commission and the European Parliament in the EU organise a variety of activities and events for all ages. A number of events are also organised within the Hungary-Croatia border region, with the full list available on the Commission website.

In the year when another significant anniversary was commemorated just some months ago, there are many events organised by the local communities in the two Member States, also within the Programme area, to celebrate Europe Day. Visit the Facebook profiles of the European Commission Representations in Hungary and Croatia to see what are the local events open to the public in the two countries.
