Representatives of EC and the Programme in Project Visit to REG-PHOSYS Project

The representative of the European Commission and the representatives of the Programme implementing bodies visited on Friday, 5 February the site of one of the projects implemented within the 2007-2013 HUHR CBC Programme's Third Call for Proposals, REG-PHOSYS project, at the premises of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Osijek, Croatia.

During the visit, Prof Damir Šljivac, Head of the Renewable Energy Sources Laboratory in Osijek established within the project, and Prof Denis Pelin, project co-ordinator, presented the 16-month project and its results to the representatives of the European Commission, Managing Authority, National Authority, Joint Secretariat and other members of the Monitoring Committee. 

The project was a co-operation including two partners from the region's two biggest research centres, Pécs and Osijek, with the Lead Beneficiary, Faculty of Electrical Engineering from Osijek, being joined by the Research Centre for Economic and Regional Studies of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, based in Pécs in a multidisciplinary research into the effect of the renewable energy sources on the development of the region.

Besides the newly set-up Laboratory in Osijek, the project produced several research papers and books on the subject of renewable energy sources, an international and multidisciplinary conference on the subject, as well as laid sound foundations for further co-operation of the two research communities in the cross-border region.

Earlier during the day a meeting was held of the Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia Coperation Programme's Monitoring Committee, where the participants were welcomed by Mr Tomislav Tolušić, Croatian Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds and Mr Dragan Vulin, Deputy County Prefect of the hosting, Osječko-baranjska County.
