The main goal of the project is to promote cultural values of the border region and to raise awareness of the contemporary literary, art and music scene of the neighbour country among the Croatian and Hungarian audience. The two main location of the activities are Pécs and Osijek, however many programmes will be implemented in other towns of the programme area (i.e. Zalaegerszeg or Beli Manastir).
The contemporary art scene both in Croatia and Hungary is very vivid and fruitful, there are many cultural events in Pécs and in Osijek that aim at presenting the artists, musicians and writers of their city, literary magazines such as Jelenkor in Pécs or Knjizevna Revija in Osijek serve as a hub for acknowledged and budding authors, the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts at the University of Pécs and the Academy of Arts and Culture at the University of Osijek allow for many young talented artists to study and work on their craft.
However despite of the diverse cultural life in the two cities, nowadays there are very little connections and cooperation between the cultural actors of the two countries, although the geographical distance is not significant. The activities of the project tackle these challenges and bring together the artists of the border region. The programmes that the partners are going to implement, contain public events for a bigger audience, that aims at
promoting contemporary art, such as public readings, exhibitions, concerts and gigs, and also offers professional activities for the actors of the Hungarian and Croatian cultural scene, like workshops, forums and discussions. The partners will ensure that there are participants for each project activities from both countries. As these joint cultural events serve as 'people to people' actions in the whole area of the border region, where
people from both sides of the border will be able to meet, interact and cooperate, the project contributes to the overall and the specific objectives of the Programme.
