The aim of the JOLLIZ! project was to educate the youngest generations about the common cross-border values, through incorporating the knowledge of common values into the education of elementary school pupils through non-formal education of jointly developed thematic curricula aided by joint auxiliary events.
The specific objective of the JOLLIZ! project was the development of the 3 new thematic cross-border curricula (“Familiar cultures”, “Shared history”, “Connecting Drava”) for elementary school pupils and offer joint learning events in these topics. “Familiar cultures” focuses on the cultural and folk heritage of the cross-border area and its similarities. “Shared history” as its name implies, concentrates on the common lengthy history of co-existing nations. Connecting Drava” is about the environment, highlighting River Drava and its natural assets. Project activities included the development of 3 joint curriculums, organisation of joint educational events for 3 main areas (culture: folk dance and music themed learning event, history: field trips of shared history and river Drava: summer camp, field trip, sport trips, contest), organisation of joint sport events and one 3-day-long joint workshop on regional development. Beyond all these, a thematic playground and a botanical garden with an outdoor classroom was created. The development of a sports ground, as well as the renovation of the building and the purchase of technical equipment were also carried out.
