During the joint planning exercise preparing the Interreg programme for the 2021-2027 period, the stakeholders have identified and designated so-called Operations of Strategic Importance (OSI-s) in nearly all Priorities of the programme. Although identified by provisional title, proposed Lead Partner and approximate amount of dedicated EU funding already in the Interreg Programme document, these projects also had to undergo a project development-, submission- and assessment procedure in order to be selected by the Monitoring Committee (MC) in their final form.

Priority 1
- ‘B Light 2 - Fostering cross-border business cooperation of SMEs operating on different sides of the Hungary-Croatia border’ – managed between 5 December 2024 and 14 February 2025, with the Subsidy Contract (SC) signed with the Croatian Lead Partner (LP) HAMAG-BICRO on 31 July 2025.
Priority 2
- ‘Geo Building – Fostering ground source geothermal energy based energy refurbishments in the border area’
- ‘MOSQUITOLAB - Coordination of joint development and mitigation actions against mosquito infestation in the Hungary-Croatia border area’
The strategic calls were managed between 5 December 2024 and 31 January 2025, with the SC signed with the Croatian LP on 9 July 2025, and with the Hungarian LP on 29 August 2025.
Priority 3
- ‘Preparing and building the missing road link between Sárok and Kneževo’
- ‘Preparing and building the missing road link between Zákány and Gotalovo’
- ‘Preparing the project documentation for the bridge between Kotoriba and Murakeresztúr’
The strategic call was managed between 25 July and 31 December 2025 and also 27 February 2026, with the SC signed with the Croatian LP on 1 July 2026, and with the Hungarian LP in the third quarter of 2026.
Priority 4
- ‘Amazon of Europe Bike Trail Hungary-Croatia – Better integration of local touristic services into the transnational tourism product Amazon of Europe Bike Trail’ – managed between 5 December 2024 and 31 January 2025, with the SC signed with the Hungarian LP Pannon EGTC on 12 September 2025.
